Take-Home Pay Calculator Australia 2025-26

Take-home pay is your salary after tax, Medicare levy, HELP/HECS repayments and other payroll deductions. Knowing the exact number — not just the gross — is what tells you whether you can take on a mortgage, fund a lifestyle change, or compare two job offers properly.

Start with Gross Salary and Pay Cycle

Convert your annual salary to each payment interval to understand your real cash flow:

FrequencyGross (from $80,000)
Annual$80,000
Monthly$6,666.67
Fortnightly$3,076.92
Weekly$1,538.46

Apply 2025-26 Resident Income Tax Rates

Tax brackets run from nil on the first $18,200 through to 45c per dollar above $190,000. On an $80,000 income, income tax is approximately $14,788 before Medicare levy, offsets and any study loan.

Add Medicare Levy and Study Loan Settings

The standard Medicare levy is 2%, though exemptions and surcharges may apply. HELP/HECS repayments reduce take-home when income exceeds the repayment threshold — the rate rises as income rises.

Check Whether Super is Plus or Inclusive

Employers typically contribute 12% superannuation on top of ordinary earnings. Salary packages quoted as inclusive of super reduce your effective base salary — and therefore your take-home — compared to a plus-super offer at the same figure.

Example Calculation: $80,000 Annual Salary

Monthly equivalent: ~$5,301 · Fortnightly: ~$2,446 · Weekly: ~$1,223

ComponentAmount
Gross salary$80,000
Resident income tax−$14,788
Medicare levy (2%)−$1,600
Estimated take-home$63,612

This example excludes HELP/HECS and salary sacrifice. Activate those settings in the calculator for a more accurate personal estimate.
